Darlene Treitler Alexander Schoenbrun, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2021 finally free from her battle with Alzheimer's Disease as she is healed and whole again. Darlene was preceded in death by her angel of a husband, Donald G. Schoenbrun, and her parents, John and Ruth Treitler. Darlene is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Alexander (Kevin Colley), sons Greg Alexander (Cindy) and Geoff Alexander, her step-children Beth Toups (Andre), David Schoenbrun (Debbie) and Dawn Wheeler (Grant), her cherished and treasured grandchildren, and her sisters, Marilyn Baker (Jimmy) and Cynthia O’Rourke (Bill). Darlene was born on February 3rd, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Darlene loved! She was devoted to family and friends and never met a stranger. Darlene lived life to the fullest, spreading love, joy and fun-times to all who knew her. If you couldn’t find Darlene at home with family and friends, then you knew to look for her at a parade, festival, crawfish boil or you could spot her at a party in the center of the crowd dancing with Don. And boy did Darlene give a great hug, always knowing when to hold on that extra little bit because you needed it. Darlene believed that if you didn't have anything nice to say about someone you didn't say anything... until they left the room! She had manners, grace and a mouth to make a sailor blush. Darlene’s varied career started at her family’s bakery, Picou’s Bakery, and included Shell Oil Company and the New Orleans Tourist Commission. Luckily Darlene joined the corporate offices of Popeyes Famous Fried Chicken in 1986 where she met and fell in love with Don. The gift of Darlene’s life will be celebrated with a private ceremony to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. The family invites you to share your fond memories online at www.lakelawnmetairie.com.
