TALBOT, Claiborne Emile, Jr. passed away peacefully May 14, 2023. He was born January 11, 1931 in New Orleans, LA. He graduated from Jesuit and Tulane University with a Bachelor of Arts. Clay was a lieutenant in the US Navy and served during the Korean War.
Clay’s lifelong passions were building and sailing which he shared with Grace, his beloved wife. His business, Talbot Construction Company, kept Clay busy for over 50 years building and designing custom homes across the city. He was also a member of the Southern Yacht Club for 75 years. This was where Clay docked his beloved boat, the Summer Wind, which he convinced Grace to help him build in 1985 when she replied, “Let’s Do It!” Most weekends, they could be found aboard the 48 foot sailing yacht with both family and friends. They also spent countless summers with their children on the Gulf Coast, sailing, water-skiing, and feeding the neighborhood kids. In retirement, Clay was well known for his gadgets and aids to help the elderly with their daily living skills. Clay’s Gadgets books #1 and #2 are a wonder to behold.
Clay is survived by his sons, Michael Merritt Talbot (Kathryn), Thomas Gregory Talbot (Erin), Bryan Thomas Talbot (Patty), daughter, Grace Talbot Olerud (Andy), sister, Eileen Talbot Bosworth and eight amazing grandchildren.
