Christopher Alton “Pops” Fayette of New Orleans, Louisiana, passed away suddenly on March 7, 2023. Though he left us too soon, one can find solace knowing that he was surrounded by his family and loved ones. Chris was many things – he was a devoted husband, a doting father, a loyal friend, a mischievous jokester, and a whole lot of fun at parties. Heaven has become a much livelier, brighter place with his light.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Cindi Fayette, his two sons Brandon (Cynthia), Corey (Haley), his sister, Lynne McCorkle (Danny), his sister-in-law Dorothy Blaché (Earl), and his grandpuppy, Carter Frank. Chris was nicknamed “Pops,” because he loved children, especially little Aiden and Sicilia. In addition to his family, he leaves behind a great many friends whose lives he touched – so many, in fact, that it would be too long of a list and require a book instead of a simple newspaper obituary.
Chris was born on August 14, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana to his parents – Alton and Wilmoth “Willie” Fayette. He grew up here with his sister, Lynne. Chris inherited his passion for photography from his father and exhibited a strong aptitude for mechanics and technology at a young age. After graduating from Delgado University, he became an IT Specialist and Software Engineer. Though he was accomplished in his field, he cared about his family the most and always put them first. His hobbies included fishing, spending time with his friends and family, floating in his swimming pool (preferably with a glass of wine in hand), flying his drone, and winemaking. Though he was passionate about technology, Chris understood the value of living in the moment and taught us all about the importance of being present in our increasingly busy, fast-moving, and digitized world. Whenever he was asked how he was doing, he would simply reply – “Every morning that I wake up that I’m breathing and walking, it’s a good day.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home and Cemeteries on March 17, 2023. Visitation will begin at noon with a funeral service following at 2:00PM. The family requests donations may be made to Mid-Western Children’s Home PO Box 48, Pleasant Plain, OH 45162 in lieu of flowers.
