Cheryl Ann Abadie Cummiskey

Cheryl Ann Abadie Cummiskey passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the age of 79. She was born in New Orleans on August 2, 1943 to the late Doris Pugh Woods and Marcel Abadie. Cheryl grew up in Oxnard, CA where she attended Santa Clara High School. She then attended college at LSUNO where she was a Zeta Tau Alpha sorority member. Cheryl met Robert D. Cummiskey Jr who proposed on Valentine’s Day of 1963. They got married on October 10, 1964 and had two sons, Dr. Robert David Cummiskey III and Gavin Patrick Cummiskey. Cheryl was a member of many choirs and churches including: JPAS Choir, St. Ann’s Church, St. Pius X Church, St. Louis Cathedral, New Orleans Opera, St. Catherine of Siena Choir and Metairie Music Club. She also retired from Clinique after working in sales for over 25 years.

Cheryl is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Robert D. Cummiskey Jr.; her loving sons, Dr. Robert David Cummiskey III (Danielle Barry-Cummiskey) and Gavin Patrick Cummiskey (Sonya Asaro Cummiskey); adoring grandchildren, Hailey Cummiskey, Chase Cummiskey, Gabrielle Cummiskey, Kaelyn Cummiskey and Liam Cummiskey; brothers, Les Wise and Charles Abadie; sisters, Clare Abadie and Cely Abadie Monsour.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Doris Pugh Woods Abadie and Marcel Quinton Abadie; her grandmother, Ilda Woods Rankin; and grandfather, Jared Rankin.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation and mass held at St. Ann Church and Shrine, 4940 Meadowdale St, Metairie, LA on Monday, November 7, 2022. Visitation will begin at church from 10:00am until mass begins at 12:00pm. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park, 5454 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA.
