Charles V. Wendling

Charles Victor Wendling, Sr., age 90, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017. Born in New Orleans on December 4, 1926, he lived most of his early life in Metairie, Louisiana. Charlie and his twin brother, Joe, enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in the Pacific Theatre of Operators. After the Navy, Charlie attended Louisiana State University, earning a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a Supervising Engineer at Rheem Company; then National Gypsum Company in New Orleans, St. Louis, and New Jersey. He later worked at Lou Con, Inc. in Mereaux, Louisiana. He was active in St. Rita of Cascia in Harahan, Louisiana. He was a member of The Good Ole Metry Boys. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Charles Wendling, Sr. and Louise Passalaqua Wendling; his brother, Joseph Charles Wendling, Jr.; and his sister, Louise Wendling Aucoin. He is survived by his sons, Charles Victor Wendling, Jr. (Alisha) and Joseph Charles Wendling; one grandson, Charles Victor Wendling, III; and his niece, Judy Aucoin Poteet. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until service time. Interment to follow in Metairie Cemetery.
