Charles Joseph Mondello, Sr.

Charles Joseph Mondello, Sr. passed away with his family by his side, on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the age of 86. Beloved husband for 59 years of the late Ruby S. Mondello. Loving father of Charles J. Mondello, Jr., Gregory A. Mondello, Sr. (Lynwood), Julie Mondello Beck, Roger M. Mondello, and Lisa Mondello Brown (Walter). Grandfather of Christopher (Micah), Lindsey, Gregory Jr. (Libby), Matthew, Leanne (Owen), Kaitlin, Eric, Adam, and Lainee. Great grandfather of Landon, Mason, Tayden, Tenleigh, Andrew, and Susan Grace. Son of the late Lois K. and Sam A. Mondello, Sr. Brother of the late Sam A. Mondello, Jr. and Richard Mondello. He also leaves behind his dear friend, Elizabeth “Bet” Claverie.

Charles served as a paratrooper in the U. S. Army. He was a past commander and chaplain with the American Legion. He was the past president and member of St. John’s Golf Club and NOGA. Charles was also a former member of The Fore!Kids Foundation. He was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Divine Providence in Metairie. Charles worked at Western Electric / South Central Bell for many years and retired in 1987. He was a member of the Pioneers Club and First Friday’s Club.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at Lake Lawn Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00AM.
