Charles C. King died on February 7, 2022 at 8:50 p.m. at the age of 91. Mr. King is survived by his wife, Roma Gibson-King and the following children: Rebecca “Becky” Fournet (Marty); Deborah “Debbie” Kinzel (Scott) and Brenda Franz (Ernie) of Lafayette, LA; Charles “Chip” King, Jr. (Joyce) of Ama, LA; and Charles “Chip” Campbell of Corpus Christi, TX; Judith “Betsy” Campbell (Rich Mains) of Lexington, KY; and Corbyn “Kerri” Simon (Charles) of New Orleans LA. He is preceded in death by Dorothy “Dolly” Jacobs (Bill) of Greensboro, NC. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Mr. King retired in 2009. During his career, he represented several area banks in Louisiana and Mississippi, marketing leasing of various types of equipment. Prior to retiring, he marketed programming for a New Orleans television station.
In addition to his business endeavors, and while living in Lafayette, he served as a Deacon in the First Presbyterian Church of Lafayette, LA and was active in several civic organizations. Upon returning to New Orleans, he served as an Elder of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church and was a member of several Carnival organizations. He was a Mason and member of the Shrine Order.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Private Family burial services will be held at Metairie Cemetery. City of New Orleans COVID guidelines require masks be worn indoors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Visionary Fund of St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church are preferred (1545 State Street, New Orleans, LA 70118).
