Charles Rudolph Capdepon, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 18, 2024 at the age of 95. He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 2, 1929. After earning his Bachelor’s degree at the age of 18 from Tulane University, he served his country with the United States Armed Forces. He received his honorable discharge in 1954 and entered the workforce most notably for Chrysler Space Division at Michoud for the Apollo program and later as comptroller for the City of New Orleans. He was proud to have been personally chosen by NASA to carry the moon rock to California. He studied while working full time to receive his CPA Certification in 1970 and began his own practice which he continued to the age of 93. He was a member of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. In his free time, he loved duck hunting, carving decoy ducks, playing the harmonica, enjoying his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and doing everything he could to please his adoring wife.
As a man of faith his entire life, he was a devoted parishioner of St. Vincent de Paul, Resurrection of our Lord in New Orleans and finally Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chalmette.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Barbara Bourg Capdepon; daughter, Dawn Capdepon Crouch (the late Dr. Steve Crouch); son, Craig Charles Capdepon (Stephane) and daughter Spring Capdepon Garcia (Steve); grandchildren, Kelly Capdepon Crouch, Dominique Capdepon Crisler (Jason), Stephen Capdepon Crouch (Martha), Caroline Capdepon Ruder (Heath), Claire Capdepon Hereford (Jason), Nathaniel Pierre Capdepon (Lindsey), Paul Emmanuel Capdepon (Elizabeth), Annette Elizabeth Capdepon, Corinne Renee Capdepon, Muriel Christine Capdepon, Grace Angel Capdepon, Steven Capdepon Garcia (Michelle), Nicholas Alexander Garcia (Carolyn); niece, Dixie Capdepon; nephew, Clint Capdepon; great grandchildren, Dustin Crisler, Jake Ruder, Fredricia Crouch, Ryan Hereford, Melody Hereford, David Hereford, Pearl Hereford, Violet Hereford, Daniel Hereford, Juda Hereford, Lucy Capdepon, Olivia Capdepon, Mia Costanzi, Cecelia Costanzi, James Capdepon, Charlotte Capdepon, William Capdepon, Madeline Capdepon, Remy Harbison, Natalia Harbison, Charlie Garcia, Mason Garcia, Nathan Garcia, and Austin Charles Garcia.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles R. Capdepon, Sr. and Mildred Coyne Capdepon; brother, Peter Capdepon (the late Dianne Gonzales Capdepon); and son-in-law, Madison Stevens Crouch M.D.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 12 PM. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM.
