Charles Henry Austin, III

Charles Henry Austin, III peacefully departed this life surrounded by his family at his home on November 10, 2015 at the age of 91. He was the cherished husband of the late Carmen Troncoso Austin for 66 years. Loving father of Charles H. Austin, IV (Clare), David S. Austin (Cynthia) and Tammy A. Valenti (Timothy). He was blessed with six grandchildren, Charles “Chase” H. Austin, V (Kindra), Kelly A. Roser (Todd), Chane L. Austin (Krystal), Desireé M. Valenti, Lindsey M. Valenti and Carlee Valenti Macias (Carlos); four great-grandchildren, Ashley A. Roser, fiancé Kevin Berry, Austin T. Roser, Charles “Henry” Austin, VI and Quinn K. Austin. Son of the late Ann Cospolich Austin and Charles H. Austin, Jr. Preceded in death by his brother, Warren S. Austin, Sr. Charles was an Army Air Corp and 8th Air Force WWII Veteran, proudly serving in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign. He received two Presidential Distinguished Unit Citations, WWII Victory Medal, Honorable Service lapel button for WWII and Expert Carbine Medal. Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 307. Charles will be deeply missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Monday, November 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. until service time.
