Carolyn Steinberg Yuspeh peacefully passed away surrounded by family on the eve of her 85th birthday, Friday, September 1, 2023 at the age of 84. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Staci Yuspeh Ferber (Doug), Jodi Yuspeh, and Mindi Yuspeh; grandson, Brandon Feigelson; granddaughter, Brooke Yuspeh; cousin, Lt. Col. Louis J. Weil (ret.); sister-in-law, Judy Steinberg; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Robert Louis Yuspeh Sr.; son, Robert Louis Yuspeh, Jr.; her parents, Emanuel Steinberg and Myrtle Weil Steinberg; brother, Sylvan J. Steinberg; and family member, Pearly Mae Wright. Carolyn was born in New Iberia, Louisiana September 2, 1938 and graduated from New Iberia Senior High School. She then attended The University of Alabama and graduated from Tulane University, A.B. Freeman School of Business with a degree in Economics and was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority. Following graduation, she married Bobby and had four beautiful children. She worked for Metairie Park Country Day School in the After Care Program and as an Economics teacher. She also held a real estate license and then owned a gift basket business, New Orleans Memories. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteering at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Carolyn loved everything about New Orleans, especially Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, the New Orleans Saints, productions at the Saenger, attending concerts and most of all spending time with her family. Carolyn and Bobby were avid New Orleans Pelicans and Tulane Green Wave fans, and were season ticket holders for many years.
The family would like to thank Carolyn’s caregivers: Chanel Franklin, Cyrillia Duplessis, Alexis Spencer, Vanessa Patin, Linda Franklin, and Maria Payne; as well as the wonderful doctors and nurses at East Jefferson General Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 12:30pm followed by a service at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the charity of your choice.
