Carol Anthony Battistella (Bat)

Carol Anthony Battistella (Bat), age 76, passed away at his home in Covington, LA on April 24, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Virginia Baio Battistella, daughter Lori Battistella Sharp (Andrew), daughter Carrie Battistella Pohto (Jamie), and son Greg Battistella (Rachel Stiebing). He is the loving grandfather of Drew Sharp, Zachary Pohto, Logan Sharp (Gabrielle Palma), Jessica Pohto, Caitlyn Battistella, Kendall Battistella, and uncle of numerous loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Rodney Sr., his mother Gertrude (Morel), and his brothers Rodney, Lewis, and Lionel.

A native of New Orleans and long-time resident of St. Bernard Parish, he was a graduate of Warren Easton High School and retired from the NASA Michoud Assembly Center. For over 60 years, Batʼs musical talents were shared with countless audiences in New Orleans and beyond and will continue to live forever with his children, grandchildren, friends, and extended family.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 12 noon on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. Visitation will take place prior to the Mass and will open to the public at 10:00 AM.
