Beverly Perez Watts, wife of the late Robert Tasker Watts, died at home on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at the age of 76. Loving mother of Robert T. Watts, Jr. (Tek) and Lisa W. Ryan (Michael). Grandmother to her angel babies, Lindsey Michelle and Courtney Lynn Ryan, and Mia Elise and Shelby Grace Watts. Daughter of the late Vincent J. Perez and Shirley Roux Perez. Sister of the late V. Joseph Perez (Mary) and Robert Perez (Laura). Sister-in-law to the late Denney T. Watts (Evelyn) and Kathleen W. Hare (the late Richard).
Bev was a native of New Orleans. She attended John McDonogh High School (Class of 1962), and met some of the best friends she could ever have. Bev lived in New Orleans most of her life. She lived in Fort Myers, Florida for 20 years. It was there she met Ginger Petruzelli while working at Lee County Government and they remained close friends.
She worked most recently at Southern Heritage Construction, a company where she and Michael Ryan were partners for 21 years. She enjoyed helping people build custom homes.
The things she liked doing the most was traveling all over the world with Bobby and her family, spending time with her granddaughters and their boyfriends, Brenan Bean and Connor Linn, having monthly luncheons with her high school friends, girls trips with the “McDonogh girls” and the casino. Darren Bergeron and Lori Ferragamo had a special place in her heart. She considered them her honorary children.
In the last few years, she and her family have traveled abroad to Italy, England, and France. Some of her most cherished times were talking and listening to her granddaughter’s stories. She always had time to be a MawMaw, aka “Snookums”. There will only be one Snookums and she will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 10:00AM until 12:00PM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
