Azarias Emmanuel Heard

Azarias Emmanuel Heard passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at the age of 42. He was born in New Orleans on June 23, 1982. Azarias graduated from Heritage Academy, class of 2000. After graduation he was employed at Six Flags in New Orleans. Azarias became a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, where he was baptized and received his first Holy Communion and Confirmation. He was a member of the Digby Sports Park and LHSAA 1998 Class ABC State Baseball. Azarias participated in track tournaments, basketball and flag football. He enjoyed playing sports and attending karate class. His desire was to become a basketball player and he wanted to start his own business, managing resources for himself and to help charity groups. Azarias loved to work and he enjoyed spending time with friends. Azarias loved his daughter and grandsons. He liked to be around good people and family whom he loved to protect. He had a great caring heart for those in need. Azarias enjoyed talking to Fr. Lawrence and Brish Collins and listening to their spiritual counsel. He built a personal relationship with God His Father and Savior Jesus Christ and The Holy Spirit.

Azarias is preceded in death by his father, Alton E. Heard, Sr.; his son, Aaron E. McMillin and his brother, Alberic Heard.

Azarias is survived by his mother, Mercedes A. Jackson; his daughter, Tasia R. Brooks; his brother, Alton E. Heard Jr. and his grandchildren, Emmanuel K. Brooks and Alex A. Bell.

A visitation for Azarias will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, 2015 Louisiana Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115, followed by a funeral mass from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
