Ann Ulrich Groetsch was born on July 29, 1935 and passed away Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her parents Henry M. and Ernestine Siegel Ulrich her sister Esther Ulrich Rodemann, and two brothers Henry “Chic” Ulrich and Carl Ulrich. Beloved wife of 69 years to George J. Groetsch, Sr., Ann is also survived by her children George J. Groetsch, Jr. (Blanca), Karen Ann Groetsch (Johnny), Brigitte Vicknair (Richard), Michele Bienvenu (James), and Gretchen Reidenauer (Robert); grandchildren Ian A. Groetsch (Elizabeth), Alexandra Vachon (Kyle), Bryan A. Tibbetts (Claire), Mark C. Landry (Tara), Matthew S. Landry (Kaitlin), James J. Bienvenu (Samantha), Jared M. Bienvenu, Julian T. Reidenauer, and Grace E. Reidenauer; and great-grandchildren, Ceclia Landry, Fiona Tibbetts, Elliot Vachon and Luca Vachon.
A lifelong resident of Louisiana, Ann graduated from Fortier High School, class of 1953, and worked in her family’s dry goods and sweet shop before marrying George J. Groetsch, Sr. in 1953. She then raised the family that was the pride and joy of her life, eventually moving from Eleanor Play Spot in Uptown New Orleans to her Bucktown home on Choctaw Avenue in Metairie, where she would reside for the rest of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Louis King of France Parish. Ann and George were members of the Dragons Social Club and traveled the world for decades, often with dear friends including Donald and Claire Persich, Norman and Irene Durr, and Jack and Carol Michel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, November 18 at Saint Louis King of France Church, 1609 Carrollton Avenue, Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will begin at 10 AM and the Funeral Mass will follow at noon. Interment will take place following the services at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Boulevard, New Orleans, LA 70124.
