After working as an air traffic controller during his military service, he married Linda Gowland on February 11, 1962. He founded a CPA practice in St. Bernard Parish (St. Tammany Parish post-Katrina), which he helmed for 35 years until he retired in 2005.
He had many passions -- speckled trout fishing, boating, building campfires, watching Jeopardy, providing for his family, giving guidance and encouragement to his sons, spoiling his grandchildren and great grandchildren; but his greatest love was his wife of six decades, Linda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Jackie, and his son Michael. He is survived by his wife Linda, his sons Greg and Jeff (Emma Churchman), his grandchildren Lindsay Otto (Tyler), Melanie Almond (Robert), Emma and Cole, and his great-grandchildren Mason, Silas, Cooper and Tristan.
Al spent his first 75 years in New Orleans, LA before making the move to Asheville, NC with Linda to join his son Greg, with Jeff moving north to complete the clan a few years later.
In New Orleans, in the early spring, there will be a funeral service and interment at Lake Lawn followed by a memorial/celebration of life. Details to follow.
