Alex was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Triay Etienne of New Orleans and his parents, Eugene Marius Etienne of New Orleans and Maria Cuellar Etienne of Kenner, Louisiana. He is survived by his loving sons, Brooks Alexandre Etienne (Rachel Dowty) of Seattle, Washington, Jean-Paul Etienne of Bloomington, Indiana (Kathryn); stepchildren, Lisa Garner, Wendy Colson and Jason Vaughn; grandchildren, Abel Asher Etienne and Saul Tobias Etienne. Also surviving are his beloved sister Jeannine Etienne Frederick and her children: Harry C. Frederick (Patty), Steven P. Frederick (Louise), William A. Frederick (Lisa), Jeannine F. Kropog, Denise F. Magner (Chris) and many great-nieces and nephews.
Among the greatest honors of Alex’s life were becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States and serving his country in the United States Army. He was a 1958 graduate of St Paul’s School in Covington, attended Louisiana State University and was a graduate of Tulane University. He was also a graduate of the Charity Hospital of New Orleans School of Radiologic Technology and was devoted to his career in X-ray which spanned over four decades until his retirement in 2006. He loved life, music, good food, celebrating any and all occasions with cherished family and friends and was, indeed, the life of the party.
Lake Lawn Metairie has been entrusted to provide final arrangements and a Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a date to be determined by the family. Alex’s family requests that any memorial contributions be made to organizations dedicated to veterans and military service members or the charitable foundation of one’s choice.
