Sarah C. Thomas

She was born on January 3, 1930, in Alton, VA, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Coleman.

She was the widow of Lewis Edward Thomas, Sr., who died on November 30, 1985.

Mrs. Thomas was retired from the Old Lyme School System, where she was the supervisor of the maintenance staff. She was a longtime member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Old Saybrook.

Mrs. Thomas is survived by her sons Alvin Thomas Sr., of Springfield, MA and Lewis E. Thomas, Jr., of New London; her daughters Mary Patricia Self of MD and Retrinda G. Thomas of Stratford; her brother Glenny Coleman of Chester, PA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son Daryl Maurice Thomas in 1991.

Mrs. Thomas’ family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of SECT, Dr. Hellman and his staff and all of those who cared for their mother during her illness, especially Brenda Oseghale and Wendy Strong.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday at 1pm at Cedar Grove Cemetery, New London. Repass will follow at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1 Garvin St., New London.
