Mrs. Chaude was born on December 4, 1929 in Hartford, the daughter of William and Florence Moreschi. She married Eugene John Chaude on September 19th 1953. He predeceased her on February 9, 1998. Rita was a proud Navy wife for the first 23 years of their marriage, following her husband across the country from station to station. She took care of their family and home through her husband's long months at sea, her only contact with him being airmail.
Rita was employed as an Aid for the Department of Mental Retardation working at Sea Side and other facilities until her retirement in 1989. She enjoyed Volunteering at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital, her Grand Children, the sun, going on walks, babies, yard sales, antique furniture and the Yankee’s.
Rita battled Alzheimer’s disease for many years but was always in good spirits and happy to be on the go. She was out and about the day she entered the hospital and was only there a couple of days before she passed. Rita could always hold a conversation, even when she could not remember facts or details. She lived with her son’s family in her apartment for several years prior to her death at their home in Oakdale CT. She was a big part of the family with everyone stopping to spend a little time with her when they came over. The house is just not the same without her.
Rita did get to see her first Great Granddaughter Stella, born October 2013
We would like to acknowledge and thank all of the care givers that helped provide for Rita over the years. Sonia was one of the first who came to support the family. They shared some great laughs and quality time together. Sharon took over for Sonia allowing her to return to nursing school. Sharon treated Rita like family. They went everywhere together, shopping, lunch, the theater, or just a ride in the car to go back to Sharon’s house for the day. Amanda started about a year ago staying with Rita a couple of mornings a week. She brought her new born son Kasen with her to see Rita when he was just 6 weeks old. They went to baby parties, showers, and shopping at Target. When Rita met Kasen it was love at first site. She just loved to be around babies. Kasen will always have a very special guardian angel watching over him. We would also like to thank Pat, Val, Shelley, Ashley and Tenasia for all of their help and support.
Mrs. Chaude is survived by her daughter Laurie Sexton, Laurie’s husband Dennis, their children Katelyn, and Brienne, Katelyn’s husband Jamie and their daughter Stella of Deep River CT, her son Gene Chaude Jr, his wife Dawn, and their children Sara, Danielle, Mitchell, and Lucas, many nieces and nephews, their children and their children's children. Rita is predeceased by her four sisters Mildred, Virginia, Elsy, and Lillian.
