Mr. Lavoie was born on May 31, 1935 in New London; the son of the late Arthur and Josephine (Fulton) Lavoie. He married Rose McGrath on June 29, 1957. They were married almost 63 years. He retired after 41 years at Electric Boat as a Timekeeper. Joseph was very active with the Montville Little League and Electric Boat Athletic Club, holding offices in both. He was also an active member of the St John's Church of Uncasville. When Joe retired he and Rose moved to Stuart Florida. Joe became active in Vista Pines social club.
Mr. Lavoie is survived by his loving wife Rose, his daughter Karen and husband Allyn Perry of Plainfield; son, John and wife Melissa Lavoie of Franklin and son Joseph Lavoie of Putnam. He is also survived by his grandchildren Crystal, Ashley, Savannah, Olivia, Brandon, Benjamin, Danielle, Alexander and great grandchildren Ella, Elliot, Kai, Grant, Genevieve, and Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his two brothers Arthur Lavoie and Albert Lavoie.
The family would especially like to thank Jamica Rozier who provided Joe’s care for several years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00am in St John's Church, 22 Maple Ave., Montville, CT. Interment will follow at St Mary Cemetery, New London. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 4:00 until 6:00pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT.
