Barbara Davies

She was born on March 31, 1930 in Waterford, CT to Victor and Ruth (MacLaren) Johnson.

She graduated from Williams Memorial Institute in 1948 and subsequently graduated from nursing school. After graduation, she was a Surgical Nurse at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and then was the resident nurse at Mitchell College where she retired in 1995.

She married David G. Davies at Saint James Episcopal Church on November 24, 1951. He predeceased her in 1990 after 38 years of marriage. Barbara was also predeceased by her sister Eleanor Swanson in 2015.

Barbara is survived by her son, David J. Davies and wife Sheryl; brother-in-law, Clark Swanson; grandchildren Jamie Davies (Darlene), Amy Saad (Wael), Melissa Brothers (Nick); great-grandchildren, Justin and Jillian Saad, Carter and Chase Davies, Wiley and Mason Brothers.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT 06320. A calling hour will be held one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Jordan Cemetery, Boston Post Rd., Waterford, CT 06385.
