Barbara was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in New London and Shepard Gill School of Nursing in Boston, MA. She began her nursing career in the Boston area, then returned to Connecticut after her marriage, to continue nursing. She volunteered at many local organizations, she enjoyed her time at Eastern Point Beach with her friends, and loved watching “her” Red Sox.
Barbara was a devoted, caring daughter, a great, dedicated Mom, and a wonderful, true friend to so many! She was a giver, always looking to do for the next person, even when her own health was a constant concern. Barbara was seen all over the area, with her boots and her walker, driving friends to and from their treatments, delivering food to those in need, and driving her friends to the airport. She never missed a birthday, anniversary or any occasion, without sending a card; or a card to let you know she was thinking about you and saying some prayers, when she knew it was a troubling time. Barbara was a devoted member of the Groton Congregational Church, where she was a Deacon. Barb had a smile for everyone she saw, and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.
Barb leaves her son, Brian M. Gaudet, of Westerly, RI.; a son William B. Gaudet, of Barrington, RI; a daughter, Susan L. Anderson, of Waterford, CT, her constant caregiver; a granddaughter Abigail C. Kemble, of Barrington, RI, who brought her immense joy; and Willie, her wonderful black cat. She also leaves a brother, Barrie W. Anderson, and his wife, Isa, and her brother, Robert M. Anderson, and his wife, Nancy, many nieces and nephews and Barb’s former husband, Raymond A. Gaudet, of Westbrook, CT. Her parents predeceased her.
A service will be held at the Groton Congregational Church, 162 Monument Street, Groton, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be at the Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, at 181 Ocean Ave., New London, on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Please visit www.fultontherouxnewlondon.com for photos, tributes, directions, and more service information.
