NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr.Whiley Paul Romero, age 80, at 1:00 pm Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time on service. A rosary will be recited at 12:30 pm on Thursday.
A native of Youngsville and resident of Broussard, Mr. Romero passed away at 9:18 am on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at his residence.
Mr. Romero served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed overseas and was wounded in combat. Whiley earned a purple heart and various other medals for his bravery. Mr. Romero was a retired fireman. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He especially enjoyed fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin.
Mr. Romero is survived by his wife; Willie Mae Meyers Romero; three children, Terry Romero and wife Lisa, Carl Romero, and Vickie Romero and husband Glen; sisters, Lee Hutchinson and Edna Solomon; twelve grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.
Mr. Romero is preceded in death by his; parents, Alcide, Sr and Cloudia Touchet Romero; and eight brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Chad Maturin, Cain Maturin, Chad Gary, Joshua Romero, Chase Guidroz, Jason Boudreaux, and Terry Romero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ridge Boudreaux and Hudson Boudreaux.
