Violet was born November 5, 1951 in New Iberia to Gilbert Peltier and the late Elodie "Tut" Bonin Peltier, and passed away peacefully Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Iberia Extended Care Hospital, with her family at her side.
Violet was employed with the Iberia Parish School Board for three years and worked with Home Depot for over 20 years in Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. She loved her jobs and went to work looking forward to what the day had in store for her. Outside of her work she enjoyed traveling and camping. She has visited many states in the US, Utah being one of her favorites, and traveled extensively abroad to many countries. Some of her other pastimes included oil painting, ceramics, and SCUBA diving. As a diver, she worked with Stanley Kale in Florida and was certified as an instructor, and a rescue diver. Violet also gave of her time and talents. She worked with inner city and underprivileged children, and with autistic children teaching them swimming and scuba diving being recognized by the Boynton Beach Police Department for the programs she developed. And it didn’t stop there. She donated her time to ARC and taught at the school when it was in Orange Grove. But her greatest achievement was being a wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Rest in peace.
Survivors include her husband and best friend of 43 years, Russell Joseph Duplantis; her child Gidget Duplantis; her granddaughter, Selina Broussard and husband Bren; and her step children, David Duplantis and wife Melora, and Craig Duplantis; nine grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren; her father, Gilbert Peltier; her brothers, Phillip Peltier and wife Penny, Blaine Peltier and wife Teresa, and Russell Bonin; and her dear cousins who were like sisters to her, Connie Suire, Vicky Rowan, Tish Taylor, Nadine Crabb and Donna Landry.
Along with her mother, Elodie Bonin Peltier, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Duplantis Whittle.
