COTEAU - A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Shane Paul Bergeron, age 46, at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Brian Harrington Officiating. Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The funeral home will reopen on Friday at 8:00 AM until the service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bergeron passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at his residence.
Born on June 28, 1973 to the late Paul Irvin and Amelina Camille Bergeron, Shane was one of five children. He was a kind and caring man who enjoyed the simple life of country living. Shane was an avid outdoorsman and could often be found fishing, hunting, or frogging. He was a laid back guy with a good heart. Shane loved his family deeply. He enjoyed spending time with his children, siblings, family and close friends. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children and their mother, Tyler Bergeron and Heather Bergeron of Bull Island and Belinda Gary Bergeron; brother, Shaun Bergeron and wife Leah of Bull Island; sisters, Roxanne B. Horton of Coteau Holmes, Wendy Leonard and husband Jessie of Bull Island, Arlean Maturin and husband Timmy of Coteau, and Amanda Arton and husband Steven of Broussard; close family friend, Jeff Delcambre; seven nephews; six nieces; and eleven great nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Amelina C. Bergeron; Maternal grandparents, Walter and Amelina Johnson Camille; paternal grandparents, Augustin, Sr. and Levie Alleman Bergeron; godchild Thomas Horton, Jr.; brother-in-law, Thomas Horton, Sr.; and uncle, Augustin Bergeron, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Bergeron, Shaun Bergeron, Zack Bergeron, Justin Reaux, Jerry Reaux, and Blaine Champange.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Leonard, Kane Duplantis, Damon DeRouen, Timmy Maturin, and Keith Comeaux, Jr.
