Roberta Huval Romero

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Roberta Huval Romero, age 79, at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Monday, March 18, 2013 with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Tuesday and remain open until service time.

A native of Youngsville and a resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Romero passed away at 4:00 am on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Maison Teche Nursing Home.

Mrs. Romero enjoyed baking, gardening, going to the casino and picking pecans for friends and family. She was a long time horse trainer and was especially fond of her two horses Kasey’s Cheyanne and Cecilia Blue. Her two favorite pets were her dogs Jolie and Lady. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family would like to send a special thanks to the staff members of Maison Teche Nursing Home and also Louisiana Extended Care for the incredible care they provided to Mrs. Romero.

She is survived by her son, Wayne John Romero, Sr. and wife Arlene of New Iberia; brothers, Lawrence Huval and wife Una of New Iberia, Chester Huval, Sr. and wife Gale of New Iberia; grandchildren, Wayne “T-Boy” John Romero, Jr., Lauren Sonnier and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Romero; parents, Eves and Judith Huval; brother, Clarence Huval; sister-in-law, Joyce Huval; niece, Emily Huval Dutile and nephews, Sean Huval and Hale Huval.

Pallbearers will be Chester Huval, Sr., Wayne Romero, Chester Huval, Jr., Cory Huval, Lloyd Boudlodie and Lynn Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne “T-Boy” John Romero, Jr., Lawrence Huval, Alvin Huval, Daniel Huval, Larry Segura, Frank Romero and Craig Romero.
