Rickey Lane Monceaux, a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on November 2, 2023, at the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was born on November 16, 1952, to the late Alvin and Winona Cormier Monceaux and was one of five beloved siblings.
Rickey is survived by his devoted wife of 23 years, Patti Landry Monceaux, who brought immeasurable joy and love into his life. He is also survived by his children, Jerrid Monceaux and his wife Melinda, and his daughter Brandie Monceaux and her companion Tommy Dufrene. Additionally, he leaves behind his stepchildren, Scott Chauvin and his wife Damary, and Felicia Gaspard, whom he cared for deeply.
Rickey's siblings, Michael Monceaux and his wife Lou Ann, Ted Monceaux and his wife Janice, and Sherry Herpin, will always cherish the memories they shared with him throughout their lives. Rickey's legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, who were a constant source of pride and happiness for him.
He also leaves behind brothers-in-law, Bob Landry and his wife Norma Jean and Michael Landry and his wife Carla; sister-in-law, Tressie Carter and her husband Ken; numerous nieces and nephews; and his loving furry companion, Abby, who he loved very much.
He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Tracy Monceaux; and one brother-in-law, Craig Herpin.
As a skilled truck driver, Rickey traveled extensively throughout Louisiana, and his profession allowed him to explore the many scenic routes and hidden gems of the state. He had a passion for golf, and whenever his journey took him near a golf course, he would stop and enjoy a game. His love for the sport was evident in the countless rounds he played and the camaraderie he found on the greens.
Rickey also had a deep appreciation for the great outdoors. He relished in hunting, fishing, and camping in his RV alongside his beloved wife, Patti. Their trips to Hidden Pines RV Park were filled with laughter and joy, as they connected with friends and participated in spirited corn hole competitions on the weekends.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Heart of Hospice and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Special thanks go to Dr. Guy and Dr. Ardoin for their unwavering kindness, care, and support during Rickey's journey.
A memorial service for Rickey will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Fr. David Furka will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 am until the funeral time. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
