Patricia Dore Romero

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Patricia Dore Romero, age 70, at 10:00 am Saturday, January 24, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Nicholas DuPre’ will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Saturday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

Patricia was born September 13, 1944 in New Iberia to the late Oris P. Dore and Aline Broussard Dore and passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Iberia Medical Center, with her family at her side.

Patricia was in child care and worked at North Lewis Elementary in the Beforecare and Aftercare programs. Prior to that, she worked at her cousin’s insurance agency, Harold Dore Insurance, and managed her parent’s store, Dore Grocery. She had a love for cooking and shared many great meals with her family. Patricia was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Otis Ray Romero of New Iberia; her children, Robert “Rob” Romero and Keisha Romero and husband Brad Nelson; and her grandchildren, Zane Romero, Garrett Romero and Brad Nelson, II.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Horace Peter Dore and Ronald Dore.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zane and Garrett Romero, Brad Nelson and Brad Nelson, II. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Russell J. Romero, Louis Darby, Si Thibodeaux, Ted Dore and Ned Dore.
