Mary Jeanne Romero Dartez

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Roy Dartez, the former Mary Jeanne Romero, age 79, at 1:00 pm Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 10:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.

A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dartez passed away at 7:48 pm on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Iberia Medical Center.

Mrs. Dartez was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan who loved baseball and watching her grandchildren play baseball. She played pokeno and bonko with her friends and really enjoyed going to the casino.

She leaves behind a wonderful legacy for her family to cherish for many years to come.

Mrs. Dartez is survived by her son, Mitchell Dartez and wife Sylvia; daughter, Sandra Derouen and husband Francis; daughter in law, Sandra Dartez all of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Jeanne Derouen Miller, Francis Derouen, Jr. and wife Tonya, Danielle Dartez Latiolais and husband Cory, Bambi Dartez Mixon and husband Henry, Chantelle Dartez Miller and husband Darren, Angel Dartez Boutte and husband Allen and Mitchell Dartez; and eight great grandchildren, Lynzie Miller, Shanie Derouen, Cameron Mixon, Kai Latiolais, Carter Derouen, Sydni Latiolais, Patrick Mixon and Gabby Miller.

She is also survived by a special niece, Tammy M. Gaspard and husband Jerome and their daughter Hillary and her sister in law and very dear friend, Olive Romero Dartez and her dog Jolie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Dartez, son, Wayne Dartez; parents, Arthur and Elda Viator Romero; three sisters, Hazel Romero Myers, Louise Romero Badeaux and Mary Nell Romero and an infant brother, Dudley Romero.

Pallbearers will be Mithell Roy “Mick” Dartez, Allen Boutte, Jr., Henry “Bubba” Mixon, Jr., Jerome Gaspard, Francis Derouen, Sr., Francis “T-Boy” Derouen, Jr.and Cameron Mixon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Latiolais, Darren Miller, Kai Latiolais, Patrick Mixon, Michael Decoux, Pat Dartez and Steve Myers.
