NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Lula Landry LeBlanc at 11:00 am Monday, September 4, 2017 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Francois Sainte Marie will be the celebrant. Mrs. LeBlanc will be laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Sunday from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm, with the Men’s Rosary Group leading the recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Monday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Mrs. LeBlanc was born January 21, 1938 to the late Henry H. Landry, Sr. and Euranie Touchet Landry, and passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Iberia Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Lula was a homemaker who devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She not only raised and cared for her children, but many of grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. It was what brought her the most joy in her life. Lula was also gifted as a “Traiteur” and healed for many ailments. Some of her favorite pastimes were doing word puzzles and watching her old western movies. She leaves behind a legacy of love, and many memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Virginia Labit, Ricky Charpentier, Brenda Segura and husband Rolling, Sr., Dean Charpentier, Jean LeBlanc and wife Judy, Mijoma “Star” Allen and husband Robert, Sr., Shantel Ashworth, and Justin Reaux and wife Rita; her grandchildren, Stafford Dore, Kevin Charpentier, Mary Reaux, Cole Colbert, Rolling Segura, Jr., Karl Segura, Dawn Vallecillo, Dean Charpentier, Jr., Cody Charpentier, Rosa Robicheaux, Michael Reaux, James Touchet, Jr., Jennifer Touchet, Robert Allen, Jr. and Tredis Allen, Dray LeBlanc and Torie Reaux.; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; her sisters, Hazel LeBlanc and Barbara LeBlanc; and a brother, Henry H. “Sonny” Landry, Jr.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Goldi Charpentier; a son, Karl Charpentier; step-father, John Henry, Jr.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Dore; sister, Laura Labit; brothers, Daniel Landry and Kenwood Derouen; and three brothers-in-law, Gilbert LeBlanc, Wilbert LeBlanc and Felton Labit.
Serving as pallbearers are Justin Reaux, Michael Reaux, Karl Segura, Robert Allen, Jr., Trevon Charpentier, Brison Segura and Chase Dore. Honorary pallbearers are Braxton Reaux, Lelind Charpentier, Dylan Vallecillo, Brandan Reaux and Dray LeBlanc
