Born in New Iberia on January 15, 1931 to the late Laoudice and Anaise Viator Romero, Lillie was one of six children. She worked as a salesperson and later managed Compton’s Jewelry Store in New Iberia for over fifty years. After the store closed and she retired, Lillie acted as a care taker for Compton Labauve until he passed away. She was a kind and giving woman who devoted herself to the service of others. Lillie loved shopping. Her family fondly remembers driving her to the stores for three hour shopping trips to buy purses, shoes, and clothing. Lillie also enjoyed reading. She will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sisters, Cecile Dore and Pearl Barrilleaux both of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Laoudice and Anaise Viator Romero; brothers, Zoel Romero and Mayo Romero; and sister, Angelle Bourque.
As per her wishes, there will be no services. She will be laid to rest with a private family service at a later date.
