NEW IBERIA – Funeral services will be conducted for Junius Romile Romero, age 84, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Ed Degeyter Officiating. Interment will follow at Broussard Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at the funeral home from 8:30 am until service time with a rosary at 9:30 am.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Junius was born on February 9, 1934 to the late Romauld and Eunice Romero. He passed away on August 26, 2018 at his home surrounded by loving family.
Junius was a born and raised Cajun who enjoyed the simple life of country living. At a young age, he started working for the Sam Broussard Trucking Company and stayed on as a mechanic for thirty four years. After his retirement at the age of 50, Junius began working as a commercial fisherman. He enjoyed fishing as both a profession and a recreation. Junius could often be found fishing in the Vermilion Bay or spending time at his camp on Lake Fausse Point. He had a love for the C.B. Radio and went by the handle “Mosquito Man”. Junius also enjoyed playing cards and dancing at Smileys in Erath. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those he knew and loved.
He is survived by his children, Robert Delcambre, Sr. and wife Carmen of New Iberia, Galen Delcambre and wife Linda of Melville, David Delcambre and wife Lisa of Picayune, MS, Versa Dore’ and husband Ronald of New Iberia, and Emile Romero of New Iberia; and numerous grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Etta “Skeeter” Lancon; daughters, Tina Lancon and Linda Romero; parents, Romauld and Eunice Romero; and sister, Eva Delahoussaye.
Pallbearers will be members and friends of the family.
