Evans Alvin “Al” Bourgeois, a loving and devoted father, grand and great grandfather, brother and dear friend, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 3, 2022 at New Iberia Manor North Nursing Center. At his passing, Al was 79.
Evan’s, affectionately known as Al, was born August 12, 1942 in Vinton, Louisiana to the late Evans Harvey Bourgeois and the late Mary Choate Bourgeois and was one of six children born to that union.
Al proudly served his country as a soldier in the United States Army. Following his duty, he held a position in the oilfield for a short period, before changing his career path to automotive sales. Throughout his career, one that has spanned over 50 years, Al worked in California, Tennessee, Arizona and Louisiana. During that time, he ventured into the Mortgage business for a period of time before returning to his beloved auto sales. Al was the type of man that had drive, determination and leadership abilities that brought him great success. When asked what words described their father, Michele and Nicholle said, he was a fighter and a leader. They proudly spoke of their dad’s will to never give up and to remain calm through even the most difficult of times. His sons in law, Brian and Michael, both spoke highly of Al with Brian sharing some great memories of family time and Michael remembering Al taking him under his wing to train him in sales. And his granddaughter, Hannah, remembers her grandfather taking her for treats and fun after school.
The beautiful memories shared by his family lead to the fact that above all, Al cherished his family and the time spent with them. The memorable vacation to the Grand Canyon, where their father arranged his army buddy and helicopter pilot to take everyone to the bottom of the canyon, to the family outings on the lake, Al was in his element. Though strong in stature, he was a gentle and loving man in the eyes of his family. We will miss you dearly but are assured of being with you again in eternity. Rest well.
His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of his two daughters, Michele Tucker Gulyas (Brian) and Nicholle Tucker Davis (Michael); his grandchildren, Sara Gulyas, Toni Dintelman and Hannah Davis; four great grandchildren, Samantha Gulyas, Amanda Cooper, Michael Cooper and Noah Gulyas; his brother and sister, Bobby Bourgeois and Jan Bourgeois (Joe Martin); his nieces and nephews, Natalie Jones, Noah Thoms, Nicholas Bourgeois, Denise Ward, Cindy Ward; and his brother in law, Jesse Louviere.
Along with his parents, Al was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amanda Dintelman; his siblings, Betty Louviere, Johnny Evans Bourgeois, James Alvin Bourgeois; his nieces and nephews, Lisa Ward, Hugh Peloquin, Bernard Peloquin, Gayle Peloquin Widcamp; and his sister in law, Brenda Bourgeois.
