Emile passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Opelousas General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Emile was born June 13, 1942 at Belmont Plantation to the late Emile “Joe” Perret and Ella Sullivan Perret. He has spent a lifelong career in the grocery business as a manager of Winn Dixie, and as a grocery broker with Joe Ewell, Co. and Sales Mark.
Outside of work, Emile loved to be outdoors. He and Jo Ann loved to travel and had many memorable vacations. Some of his favorite places visited were the Grand Canyon and Mt. Rushmore, and almost anywhere out west. He was also an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his Saints and LSU Tigers, and watching the drag races. Emile even made time to tend to a few of his other passions, his vegetable garden and coin collecting. He and Jo Ann would often go to the bank and purchase roles of coins and sit home looking for that one rare coin in the bunch.
He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Broussard Perret; his son and daughter-in-law, Emile John Perret, II and wife Trudi Reynaud Perret; his grandchildren, Emile John Perret, III, Lane Perret, and Kaci Perret; his sister, Ella Mary Seago of Lafayette; and brother, Joseph Perret of New Iberia.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan Perret, and sister, Francis Perret Segura.
Pallbearers will be members of the family.
