Delton was a devoted husband, Godfather, and servant of the Lord. He was married to Donna Delahoussaye for 43 years. Although they never had children of their own, their home was always filled with nieces, nephews, and neighborhood kids. He was known to many as "Parrain".
In recent years he loved playing slots at Cypress Bayou and eating at Janes Seafood every Saturday night. His dog, Charlie, was spoiled rotten by him and was always by his side. Delton also had an artistic side, and painted ceramics with Donna on weekends in the 80's. He was a loyal employee of Red Fox and Ace Machine for many years, and worked 6 days a week well into his 70's.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Annie Lou Mestayer; his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, Christina Bass Vice, Erica Bass, Dawn Mestayer, David Delahoussaye, Jamie Delahoussaye and Brien Delahoussaye; and his beloved and faithful poodle, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Faye Delahoussaye Dore', his parents, Wally and Duclecia "Chun" Dore'; nephew, Ramsey Delahoussaye; and his sisters and brothers, Inez Bass, Elsie Fremin, Eldridge Broussard and Zan Broussard.
Private services will be celebrated for Delton and he will be laid to rest with his wife at Nativity of Our Lady Mausoleum.
Pallbearers are David, Jamie and Brien Delahoussaye, Erica Bass and Ryan Vice. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Cruz and Phillip Trahan, Sr.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Landmark of Acadiana for being by his side during these strange times when family couldn't be there, and a huge thank you to his lifelong friends, Johnny and Lorita Cruz, who were faithful friends to Delton and Donna. We are forever grateful to you all.
