John and John and Geri Geri Wilmes

April 5, 1933 - Dec. 15, 2010 Age 77, of Merrifield, formerly Osseo, passed away surrounded by his family. John Wilmes was born in Minneapolis, MN the son of Mathew and Agusta (Kisch) Wilmes. After graduating from Osseo High School, he married Geraldine Wirtz on June 7, 1958. John continued working on the family farm and was an employee for the City of Maple Grove for 29 years. During their retirement they enjoyed the winters in Arizona and Merrifield in the warmer months. He enjoyed gardening, tennis, fishing and tinkering in his spare time. John was an amazing man and was dedicated to his family and loved having them all around him.

John is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Geraldine; parents; and brother, Pete. He will be sadly missed by his children, Mike (Roxanne), Steve, and John (Vickie); grandchildren, Tom, Ben, Matt, Bobbi, John, Jeff, Jacob, Joe, Jack, and Jenna; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Service Saturday, Dec. 18 at 3:00pm at Kapala Glodek Malone Funeral Home, 7800 Bass Lake Rd., New Hope.

GERALDINE E. WIRTZ

Age 74, of Merrifield passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. Private Services.

Geraldine Wirtz was born on March 7, 1936 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of William and Margaret (Schroeder) Wirtz. After graduating from the College of St. Catherine’s with a Nursing Degree, she married John Wilmes on June 7, 1958. She worked for St. Mary’s Hospital, the Osseo School District and Group Health before retirement. During their retirement they enjoyed the winters in Arizona and Merrifield in the warmer months. She enjoyed quilting, tennis, and crafts in her spare time. Geraldine was an amazing woman and was dedicated to her family and loved having them all around her.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 52 years John; children, Mike (Roxanne), Steve, and John (Vickie); grandchildren, Tom, Ben, Matt, Bobbi, John, Jeff, Jacob, Joe, Jack, and Jenna; sister, Marilyn Wirtz; brother, Leonard (Helen) Wirtz; and many nieces and nephews.
