Eileen Beatrice Peel (of Crystal MN & Christchurch England) was a beloved mother, sister, auntie, nana, wife and friend during her incredible 95 years of life. She passed away peacefully Monday, June 20, 2022.
Eileen immediately lit up any room she entered and made an impact on so many people. She was a joyful presence with her exquisite taste, proper etiquette, infectious jolly laughter and always with a proper ‘cuppa’ English tea. She loved cardinals, bird watching, crossword puzzles, reading, Sunday scrabble games, classical music, British television, Masterpiece Theatre, proper strong English mints, golf, cooking, chocolate, soft boiled eggs in the perfect egg cup with toast points, flowers, telling wonderful stories of growing up with her beloved brothers, sister & family in England, sharing lively stories of raising her children in England, California & Minnesota. She loved to talk politics from both here in the US & back home in the UK, a spot-on historian with quick witted humor, and bubbly personality. She was the pillar of our family and filled her home with love, warmth, and kindness. We will miss her greatly!
Eileen was a G.I. war bride in World War II, and spent many hours in the bomb shelter, her father built, in the family garden. During that war she met her husband Arthur Peel & in 1944 they were married in the Priory, Christchurch, England. Stateside, they raised their 5 children in both California & Minnesota where she was actively involved in her church and volunteered for North Memorial Hospice Care Services for many years.
Eileen joins her husband, Arthur, in Heaven, where they are sure to be spending their days laughing together. Also preceding her in death, her parents: Kathleen & Leonard Newman; Twin Brothers: Len (Pam) Newman, Ron (Dinah) Newman; Sister: Phyllis Newman; Daughter: Kathryn Tovar; Uncles: Corporal Thomas Hooper of the Royal Marines, Charles Hooper who both died in the Battle of Somme in WWI, Uncle Will Hooper who also fought in WWI, Sam & Bert Hooper. Eileen is lovingly remembered by her Brother: Michael (Sharon) Newman; Eileen’s Children: Lorraine (Gerald) Boehm, Garth (Ely) Peel, Lance (Christine) Peel, and Valerie Matthews; Nieces & Nephews: Jenny, Angela, Wendy, Kim, Debbie, Susan, Shirley, Steve, Paul, Jackie, Joann.
