Dr. Carl Holbert Jr. (D.Div) made his debut into this world on December 6, 1956, by way of Norma Jean Green (of Kansas City, Mo.) and Carl Holbert (of Kilgore,Tx). While Dr. Holbert was on this earth; he owned several productive businesses and was an electrician by trade. A Kung-Fu Dojo, a commercial janitorial business and a barbecue/catering business really showed his entrepreneurial spirit and these businesses were productive for years. Dr. Holbert received his Doctor of Divinity in 1995 from World Christianship Ministries. Christian Rebirth Tabernacle was the church Dr. Holbert pastored for 5 years; all while serving juveniles and adults as a volunteer chaplain for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for 14.5 years!
Cardiac arrest halted the gifts of love Carl gave through cooking, giving of himself and serving others on August 17, 2024. Dr. Carl Holbert Jr. (aka "Hobie" "Lovey", "Big Fella") will be missed - not only for his cooking; but for the impact he made on our lives.
Carl's life will continue to be celebrated by his wife of 11 years, Nicole, and sister Lashawn, along with a host of family members and friends.
Service for Carl will be Friday, August 30, 2024, public visitation starting at 11 am until 12 pm followed by a Celebration of life at 12 pm until 1 pm all at Kapala Glodek-Malone Funeral Home located at 7800 Bass Lake Rd., New Hope, MN, 55428. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm at Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Minneapolis, MN, 55418.
In lieu of flowers, please consider giving in honor of Carl's memory to one of his favorite charities: Pacific Garden Mission or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
