Susan Jane Horn

She was born in Jersey City, NJ August 11th 1949 to Agnes and Lawrence Malewit. The Malewit family moved to Elmwood Park, NJ where Susan graduated from Saint Ann's grammar school. Susan was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy High School in Washington Township, NJ and Tambrook College in West Patterson, NJ. Susan decided on a career in banking where she met her future husband Ferdinand (Fred) Horn who hired her and married her two years later. Shortly thereafter they had a daughter Olivia.

Susan was a kind hearted, outgoing, and highly creative individual . She was an amazing artist and writer winning many contests. She was a huge animal lover. The owl was her spirit animal.

She had a taste for adventure and with her husband traveled throughout five continents. She loved hiking , snow shoeing,dancing, and vacationing at her favorite year-round retreat; Lake George .

She is survived by her husband Ferdinand R. Horn , her daughter Olivia R. Vassallo and her son-in-law David J. Vassallo. She is also survived by her two brothers Larry and Ronald Malewit.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday November 10th for the viewing from 1-4 pm with a service starting at 2 pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Flowers can be sent to the Higgins Funeral Home or donations can be made to the American Cancer Society
