Bob Taylor, a longtime resident of New City died peacefully on November 1, 2020 after a fall with his loving family by his side two days after his 71st birthday.
Bob was born in NYC on October 30, 1949 to Robert and Evelyn (Barrett, Redner) Taylor. He married Theresa (Terri) Margro and moved to Suffern to raise their sons before moving back to New City. He was a 1968 graduate of Clarkstown High School and graduated from Dominican College in 1974 with a degree in accounting. He began his career at Merrill Lynch and then worked for Paine Webber. He became CFO for American Health Capital before forming his own company Taylor Diversified. Prior to his retirement, he served as CFO for Total Senior Health Care in Naples FL.
Bob was a proud Vietnam Veteran serving from 1970 – 1971. He was with the 25th Infantry, 7th Battalion, 11th Field Artillery. He kept his military ties his whole life as a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 333 where he served as was their Web Master.
Bob was a man of many talents. He was an accomplished pianist, playing mostly classical music. Bob loved his tools and toys. He could fix almost anything and enjoyed the challenge. He was a lover of all creatures big and small, including birds, chipmunks, and squirrels. He also adored his dogs.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Terri (Margro), sons Robert III (Greta) of Allendale, NJ and Anthony (Erin) of Suffern as well as the lights of his life, his granddaughters Natalie, Sophia, and Ainsley, sister Debby and brother Steven (Laura), in-laws Robert (JoAnne) Margro, Regina (James) Nanry, Margaret (Tom) Moriarty, as well as countless nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother-in-law James Margro and grandsons Anthony and Connor Taylor
Bob wanted to be remembered as a good man, mission accomplished.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, the Vietnam Wall Memorial or St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family will be receiving friends and family at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S Main St, New City on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 from 3-7 pm. A mass of the Christian burial will be at St Augustine’s Church in New City on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10:00 am.
