Ralph DeMaio, Sr. of New City died on May 5, 2014, at the age of 89. Ralph was born on May 26, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to Michael and Rose (Bruno) DeMaio. Ralph served our country in World War II and was honorably discharged from the US Army. Following the service, he received his Bachelors Degree in Chemistry from Brooklyn College and his Masters Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Stevens Institute of Technology. Ralph began his career at Lederle Laboratories, and went on to work for Mona Industries, Paul Uhlich & Company, and Henkel Industries where he retired from. After his retirement, he assisted his son, Ralph DeMaio Jr. in his business, DeMaio Builders for twenty years building custom homes. Two of Ralph DeMaio's notable accomplishments was his creation of the 'My-T-Fine' instant pudding recipe as well as the reformulation of the new Dove soap. Ralph DeMaio, Sr. is predeceased by his wife of forty years, Dolores. He is survived by his companion, Marie Scali of Harrison, NY, son, Ralph (Linda) DeMaio, Jr. of New City, daughter, Donna (William) Doyle of Hewitt, NJ, granddaughter, Lauren DeMaio, and brothers, John (Marlene) DeMaio, and Michael (Eleanor) DeMaio. The DeMaio family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, New City, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine's Church in New City with burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet.
