Natalie Kavakis of Nanuet, New York, passed away peacefully on
January 21, 2022 with her loving and dedicated son Jimmy by her side. She was born Natalie
Perrone and grew up in Washington Heights, New York on December 13, 1930.
She attended Fort Washington High School and graduated in 1948. After graduation
she worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company as a secretary. Natalie married her
childhood sweetheart, Connie, a New York City Police Officer in 1951. Connie predeceased Natalie at the young age of 52. Her devoted daughter Debbie, her best friend, who also departed this world at the young age of 54 as well as her parents Rose and Dominic Perrone, sister Rose Gabrielli, brother Carmine Perrone, and in-laws Tony, Adelaide, James and Stella Kavakis.
After getting married and moving to Nanuet, Natalie worked at Waldbaums in Monsey and then finished her career in Waldbaums in Nanuet, New York. Natalie also worked at OTB in Pearl River, New York. Natalie was recognized by America’s disabled veterans for her generous donations and support. She loved animals and was recognized by the Humane Legislative Fund for her outstanding commitment to animal protection.
Natalie is survived by her son Jimmy, nieces Cathy Perrone, Annie Masotti, and Diedre Salvaggio, cousins Michael Perrone and Peter Pendias, also Debbie’s best friend Kathy, a daughter and friend to her, along with her husband Peter Stala. She also leaves behind her best buddy Celeste, her cat.
Natalie was a lifelong parishioner of St. Anthony's Church in Nanuet. She was a loving, kind and generous woman who always had a smile on her face and a compassionate uplifting word for all those she encountered. She was devoted to her family and friends who meant everything to Natalie. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. The world was a better place because of her presence on this earth.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 4-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, New York. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony’s Shrine Church in Nanuet, followed by interment at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, New York
