12/25/1935 - 11/29/2024
Lee Licht of New City, NY, 88 years old, passed peacefully surrounded by family on November 29, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Marie; his son, Vincent Licht, and his wife, Diane, of Congers; his daughter, Theresa May, and her husband, Joseph, of New City; his daughter, Dianne McKim, and her husband, Ken, of Orangeburg; and his son Gregory Licht and his wife Lisa of Congers. Lee is also survived by eight beautiful grandchildren, Holly, Timothy (Maggie), Paul, Christopher, Nicholas, Piera, Angela, and Amanda, and one great-grandchild, Arianna. He was very proud of his family and cherished spending time with them and always being there for all of them.
Lee was born in Brooklyn on December 25, 1935, and raised in Suffern, New York, by his parents, Morris and Pauline Licht. When they were teenagers, he met his sweetheart, Marie Sansalone, at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, New York. They married shortly after that, on December 4, 1954. This December would have been their 70th wedding Anniversary.
Lee enjoyed a long career as a Package Designer, working for many prominent companies, including Avon, Revlon, Shulton, and others. His work included the technical and creative designs of many fragrance bottles and after-shave decanters that millions used throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. He also enjoyed working in real estate for a brief period. After retiring, he was never one to sit still, and just for fun, he created and sold a line of salad dressing called Pop Pop’s Best. Lee and Marie enjoyed many years of family vacations at the shore in North Wildwood and visits to the casinos in Atlantic City. Memories of nearly 50 summers together at the Jersey shore, with over 30 friends and relatives, will never be forgotten.
Lee was always known for his eternal optimism and his support for the education and careers of his children and grandchildren. He is also remembered for his winning smile by all those who knew and loved him. His love and care for his wife, children, and grandchildren knew no bounds and brought him his greatest joys.
Lee’s family invites you to a service celebrating his life at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Ascension Cemetery Chapel in Airmont, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee’s memory can be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
