Kirsten Turid Hamre (nee Fagerland) of Nanuet, NY, 80 years old, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023. Kirsten was born in Kopervik, Norway on February 22, 1943 to Thomas and Astrid Fagerland. They emigrated to the United States in 1951, settling in Brooklyn. Kirsten graduated from high school, and she then met Samuel Hamre at the Sons of Norway Dance in 1961; they were married in December 1962. In 1964, they moved to Monsey, NY, Rockland County. She worked as a supervisor for Photo Promotions, Inc in Rockland County for many years and she also worked as a child care provider for Miss Vicki’s Dancing School in New City, NY. In 2005, Kirsten and Samuel Hamre moved to Nanuet, NY.
Kirsten is survived by her husband Samuel, her son Kevin, his wife Kathleen, their son Joseph Uricks, and
his daughter Olivia, their daughter Kiersten Hamre Vargas and her husband Brandon, Kirsten’s son Scott,
his wife Maureen, and their daughter Nora-Lise Hamre
