Karen Dyvik died peacefully on January 18, 2015 at Elder Homestead, Minnetonka, MN. She was 94. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and kind friend to many. Karen was the youngest child of Anders and Theresie Dorsdal. She was born in Risor, Norway on November 25, 1920 and was educated as a homemaker and hairdresser. She met her husband Leif Dyvik in Norway and they were married July 31, 1948. Karen and Leif emigrated to the U.S. in 1954 with their oldest son, Rune. Living in the New York area, they had two more sons, Arve and Jahn. Karen was strongly committed to her Christian faith. She was active in her church, Nanuet Lutheran Brethren (now Hope Community) for more than 40 years before moving to Minnesota in 2007. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, sisters Margit and Kristina, brothers Tallak and Vrold, and grandson Gunnar. She is survived by sons Rune, Arve, and Jahn, daughters-in-law Tove, Denise and Amy, and grandchildren, Joakim, Emma, Tore, Sarah, Sofie, Finn, Tucker, and Elise. The family will be present to receive friends and family for a viewing at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St., New City, NY 10956 on February 6, 2015 from 6-9 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Hope Community Church, 109 N. Middletown Rd, Nanuet, NY 10954.
