Frank J. Morea of Congers N.Y. 105 year old World War II Veteran, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2018 at the NYS Veterans Home in Montrose, NY. Frank was a 48 year resident of Congers. He was born June 22, 1913 in the Bronx. He married Jean Zablow Wolkoff in 1952. Upon returning from the war after 4 years serving in the Pacific Campaign with the 77th Infantry Division as Sargent of the Motor Pool he went to work for the United States Postal Service from which he retired in 1972. He then took the position as a security guard at the Jewish Home for the Aged in the Bronx from which he retired at the age of 76. When his wife Jean passed in 1997 he met Lucy, a wonderful woman who became his longtime friend and confidant. The family would also like to thank his Dunkin Donuts friends Bill, Matt, Kevin and Pat who kept him young and alert, also neighbors Tom and Sally who kept an eye on him. Finally the family would like to thank the staff at Montrose for making his last days comfortable.
Frank is survived by his sons Marc Morea (Cathy) and Allan Wolkoff (Judy), daughter Phyllis Magarian and daughter-in–law Judie Wolkoff. Grandchildren Stephen Morea, Olivia Morea, Jay Wolkoff, Paul Wolkoff. Roger Wolkoff, Karen Magarian, Glenn Magarian, Lorna Kleidman, Mandy Wolkoff, Elana Holladay Wolkoff, Alexa Oth and Justine Goulet. Great grandchildren Nathaniel and Bethany Wolkoff, Malcom Oth, Hunter Goulet, Kayla and Arin Chassine , Joshua and Mara Holladay Wolkoff. He was predeceased by his wife Jean, son Eugene Wolkoff and son-in-law Nazareth Magarian. He will be remembered by all for his good nature and ready wit right up to the end.
Family will receive friends at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home, 321 S. Main St., New City, NY on Sunday, December 30 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A funeral service will be held at he funeral home on Monday, December 31 at 11am, entombment will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
