Catherine Rodriguez

It is great sorrow to announce that Catherine Ann DeMeo Rodriguez age 76 passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on July 15 2018. She is survived & missed dearly by her husband of 56 years, Anthony Rodriguez, her loving & devoted daughter's Ann Rodriguez Berger (John), Maria Matos (Salomon), Michelle Rodriguez-Diliberto (Pete), her two beloved grandchildren, Salomon Matos IV & Analise Berger. She is also survived by her three siblings, Anthony DeMeo (Annemarie), Veronica DeMeo Boesch (Robert), and Michael DeMeo (Susan), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was born in The Bronx on July 30 1941 to Ann & Anthony DeMeo. She attended St. Thomas Aquinas School. At the age of 15 Cathy moved with her family from The Bronx to Spring Valley. While attending Spring Valley HS, Class of 1959, she enjoyed acting in many plays & loved to dance. She entered & won a couples dance competition on the Ted Steele's Bandstand TV Show.

Cathy met the love of her life, Anthony while working together at ShortLine Delivery in 1960. They married at St. Joseph's Church in Spring Valley in 1962. For many years Cathy was a stay at home Mom & volunteered her time to The American Cancer Society, Girl Scouts of USA , and was a Kindergarten Teachers Assistant at St. Augustine’s Elementary, where her children attended school. In 1981 she went back into the workforce. She retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1999.

She was a member of St. Augustine's Church & a woman of faith. She dedicated her time teaching students for 8 years.

One of her favorite ways to enjoy life was spent at the gym. She also was an avid reader. Both hobbies led her to meeting lifelong friends. She loved to laugh & enjoyed spending time at her pool. She even learned how to swim in the past few years.

Cathy loved sending time at the beach. Our family vacations were spent at the Jersey Shore. Years later she bought a timeshare in Puerto Rico where her & Tony enjoyed cold winters.

She will be dearly missed & leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will keep her in our hearts forever.

Catherine's Memorial Service will be held on Thursday July 19 2018 at Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home in New City, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday July 20 2018 at St. Augustine's Church in New City at 10am. Burial to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet.
