Beverly A. Moran, 94, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019 at Nyack Hospital, following a brief illness. For the past few years, she had been a resident of Dowling Gardens, in Sparkill and more recently, The Esplanade, in Palisades. Born in Manhattan on December 20, 1924, Beverly, the daughter of Helen and Richard Owens was raised in the Bronx and graduated from Evander Child's H.S. After working at Montgomery Ward, in Manhattan, Beverly met and later married her husband of 48 years, Matthew Moran, on February 26, 1949, at St. Philip Neri. After moving to New City, Beverly was a devoted mother to her four children. Following her husband's retirement from FDNY, Beverly and Matty enjoyed traveling, including many of the Caribbean islands and also visiting family in Ireland. A longtime parishioner of St. Augustine's Church, Beverly was an avid reader throughout her lifetime and was a fixture at the New City Library. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, looked forward to watching Jeopardy and the news each evening and loved listening to music. Beverly was predeceased by her husband, Matthew (1997) and daughter Catheleen Graney (2012). She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Moran of Monroe and sons, Terence of Sunnyside, Queens and Neil/Maureen of Rockville Centre; her grandchildren, Luke and Dylan Graney and son-in- law Scott of Congers; Meghan O'Neil/Gregory of Lynbrook, Colleen Enright/Craig also of Lynbrook and Patricia Bonagura/Michael of Rockville Centre; great grandchildren, Kate, Aidan, Rory, Kevin and Maeve; and her twin brother, Richard, as well as nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Augustine's Church, 140 Maple Avenue, New City.
