Anthony (Tony) graduated from Power Memorial HS, Long Island University and Iona Colleges, earning a degree in Chemistry and an MBA. He worked as a Chemist and in Management for J. F. Jelenko & Co.for most of his career, also working in management in Bamberger’s/Macy’s in Nanuet. He enjoyed music and was in the choir of St. Augustine Church, supporting his children and grandchildren in their musical pursuits. He loved train travel and cruises, and was a member of the Pearl River Gun Club, but his real hobby was food. He enjoyed cooking and eating and most of all, talking about food at every opportunity.
Tony met Phyllis (Langelotti) at Jelenko and they married in 1964, celebrating 58 years of marriage in August. He was the devoted father of three: Mikki (Tim) Harkin, Allyson (Richard) Mathews & Chris. He adored his grandchildren, Tess, Tony & RJ Harkin and Drew & Eddie Mathews. Tony is survived by his brothers Stephen Morena and John Morena and sister Gloria Moloney. He was “Uncle Tony” to many nieces and nephews who appreciated his sense of humor, and he enjoyed hosting large Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners.
The wake will be on Sunday November 27 from 3-7pm at Higgins Funeral Parlor in New City. A funeral is scheduled for Monday November 28 at St. Anthony RC Church, Nanuet.
