Yvonne G. Thaxton, 83, a lifelong resident of New Britain, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2017. She was born in New Britain, a daughter of the late Gerald and Viola (Charland) LaMontagne and was a graduate of local schools. She worked at Fafnir Bearing Manufacturing Co., on the food cart and later at Stop and Shop Supermarket as a cashier for 10 years. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s R.C. Church and a member of its Ladies Guild. She was known as a generous person to all, who loved her family and grandchildren especially. She was a faith filled catholic and prayed the rosary daily.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Charles Thaxton, Sr. in November 2005, her stepmother Leah LaMontagne, two sons, Charles Thaxton, Jr., and Conrad Thaxton, one daughter Marceline Gabbey, one brother Arthur LaMontagne and her sister Doris Gruber and two great grandsons, Johnathan and Zach. She is survived by her loving daughters Edith Paradis and her husband Paul of New Britain and Faith Bear and her husband Don of Plainville, her loving son Robert Thaxton of New Britain, her brother Armand LaMontagne of Southington, fourteen grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 9AM from the New Britain Memorial-Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Avenue, followed by the Liturgy of Christian Burial 10AM in St. Ann’s Church, burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery all in New Britain.
