Vincenza Marotta

Vincenza (Aparo) Marotta – of Farmington, CT slipped away from this life to join her husband on Friday, February 13, 2015 with her family by her side. Vincenza was born in Priolo, Sicilia on December 24, 1927. She was the beloved daughter of Lucia (Cavaliere) and Giuseppe Aparo. She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1966. Vincenza was a gifted seamstress; she took pride in her work and clothing design. She retired from Sandra Paula Fashions after 30 years as head seamstress. She was a member of St. Ann Church for over 45 years. Vincenza filled her family and friends’ hearts with love. She was a passionate and caring woman. Her hands never stopped working, if she wasn’t sewing or knitting, she was cooking and cleaning. She was a beautiful woman in every respect, and will never leave our hearts.Vincenza was predeceased by her husband Sebastiano of 53 years. Her sisters Sebastiana and Emilia Aparo; her brother Salvatore Aparo; her brother-in-law Pietro Maltese and her nephew Antonino Maltese, all of Priolo, Sicilia. She is survived by her daughter Josephine Penna and husband Nick of New Britain; son Giuseppe Marotta and wife Donna of Hartford; Daughter Lucia Calafiore of New Britain; daughter Loredana Soucy and husband Michael of Burlington; 10 grandchildren, Diana, Patricia, Stefania, Salvatore, Nicole, Sebastiano, Jennifer, Concetta, Sarah-Marie and Christopher and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM at the New Britain Memorial- Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave. New Britain, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:00 AM at St. Ann Church, 101 North St. New Britain. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 16, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home, Directions, Exit 37 off I-84 take a right, 1 ½ miles on your right.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann Church, 47 Clark Street, New Britain, CT.
